Corey C Thomas, 45, of Prince Frederick
Corey C Thomas, 45, of Prince Frederick, is facing two open misdemeanor drug cases in Calvert County District Court after two recent arrests tied to alleged cocaine possession and drug paraphernalia, according to court records.
The most recent case was filed May 13, 2026, after a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputy went to a residence in Prince Frederick to serve an active warrant connected to an earlier case. Charging documents state that Thomas answered the door, was identified through a previous booking photograph, and was taken into custody on the warrant. During a search, the deputy reported finding a small folded piece of burnt tin foil with white powder residue in Thomas’ shirt pocket and a red plastic pill container keychain with a trace amount of white powder residue in his pants pocket. The residue was suspected cocaine, according to court documents. Thomas was advised of his Miranda rights and “declined to answer any questions,” the filing states.
In that May 2026 case, Thomas is charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis. Court records show he was initially held without bond on May 13, 2026. At a bail review on May 14, 2026, Judge Michelle R. Saunders set a $5,000 unsecured personal bond, which was posted the same day, and Thomas was released from commitment. A trial is scheduled for June 23, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
The warrant served during the May arrest stemmed from Thomas’ failure to appear for a May 11, 2026, preliminary inquiry in another open case. That earlier 2026 case was filed April 2, 2026, after an alleged March 31, 2026, incident near Merrimac Drive in Prince Frederick. According to court documents, members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit were conducting surveillance after being notified that Thomas had a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. A detective wrote that Thomas was seen walking in the area of Old Field Lane and Tubman Drive before entering a hotel on Merrimac Drive.
The detective reported that officers approached Thomas near the hotel’s ATM, told him he was under arrest, and took him into custody. During a search, investigators said they found a glass smoking device with burnt residue and a metal smoking device with burnt residue in Thomas’ pants pocket. The detective wrote that, based on training and experience, the devices are commonly called “crack pipes” and are used to inhale cocaine. Thomas was charged in that case with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court scheduling records provided for the April 2026 case show Thomas failed to appear for the May 11, 2026, preliminary inquiry before Judge Robyn Riddle, and a bench warrant was issued that day. The warrant was served May 13, 2026. Thomas was held without bond following the warrant service, then released on recognizance after a May 14, 2026, bail review before Judge Saunders. That case is also scheduled for trial on June 23, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
Court records list Thomas’ date of birth as July 7, 1980, in both 2026 cases. The records also list an alias spelling of Corey Cornell Thomas, matching the alternate spelling used in some earlier filings. The most recent case information identifies him as Corey Carnell Thomas.
The two latest cases follow several prior arrests and charges in Calvert County. In December 2025, Thomas was charged after a welfare check at a CVS on Southern Maryland Boulevard in Dunkirk. A Calvert County Sheriff’s Office corporal reported that Thomas was a back-seat passenger in a vehicle and appeared slow to respond. When Thomas stepped out of the vehicle, the corporal wrote that he heard a hard, glass-like object hit the ground and saw Thomas trying to kick something away from his feet. Officers recovered a broken glass tube, and later reported finding another tube with a copper filter, a clear plastic tube containing suspected cocaine residue, and marijuana after Thomas arrived at the Calvert County Detention Center on Stafford Road in Barstow.
In June 2025, Thomas was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trespassing on posted property after a deputy reported finding him and another person on a playset at a church property on Church Street in Prince Frederick. The filing states the area was marked with “NO TRESPASSING” signs and that Thomas allegedly possessed an improvised metal smoking device used to inhale cocaine.
In March 2025, Thomas was charged after the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at a home on Tubman Drive in Prince Frederick. Investigators reported finding ammunition under Thomas’ bed and two cut straws with residue in his bedroom. The charge summary in that case listed illegal possession of ammunition, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thomas was also charged in 2024 in cases involving alleged cocaine possession and an alleged fake controlled dangerous substance transaction. In one July 2024 filing, investigators alleged an undercover detective contacted Thomas near hotels in Prince Frederick and asked about Percocet. Court documents quote Thomas as saying, “yeah, my people’s at my house have some right now. Let me call them.” During the alleged transaction, a woman on the phone reportedly said, “I only have one left,” and described the pill as “a 10 for $15.” Investigators later identified the pill as metformin hydrochloride, a diabetes medication, rather than Percocet.
