House Fire in Hollywood Under Investigation, One Occupant Displaced

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at approximately 9:23 a.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services were dispatched to the area of the Bradfords Neighborhood Market located at 23860 Hollywood Road in Hollywood, for the reported house on fire.

Multiple 911 callers reported smoke coming from the residence.

Crews quickly arrived on the scene to find fire showing from the two-story residence.

Firefighters from Leonardtown, Hollywood, Bay District, NAS Patuxent River, Mechanicsville, Seventh District, Second District and Solomons responded to the scene, with crews making entry to find fire throughout the fire floor with extensions to the second floor/ceiling.

At 9:42 a.m., evacuation tones were sounded due to safety issues as firefighters reported the floors were becoming unstable. A defensive, exterior operation was declared.

The fire was placed under control with 40 minutes.

Firefighters from Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s County responded to provide fill ins to the operating companies.

SMECO and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal was requested to the scene to assist. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police responded to assist with traffic control and road closure.

One homeowner was evaluated for injuries, however, it is unknown if they were transported or signed care refusal forms.

No known injuries were reported.
