On Saturday, May 30, 2026, at approximately 6:55 p.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services from Charles and St. Mary’s County responded to the 7000 block of Traeleigh Lane in Charlotte Hall, for the inaccessible rescue after an ATV crash.
911 callers reported an ATV crashed with two patients down and bleeding.
Upon arrival, crews found the area was not accessible by Traeleigh Lane and had to find access points from Oaks Road.
Once crews located the two patients and evaluated them, aviation was requested due to their injuries and having no helmets on.
Due to an ongoing mission in St. Mary’s and Charles Counties, Maryland State Police Aviation Command Troopers 2 and 7 were unavailable. U.S. Park Police Eagle 1 responded to transport the patients.
Flight medics were advised a 32-year-old female was ejected during the crash and thrown approximately 20 feet, the 33-year-old male patient was suffering multiple long-bone injuries. Both patients were reportedly not wearing helmets, were conscious and alert.
Eagle 1 transported the patients to the MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
