On Sunday, May 31, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the area of Hawthorne Road and Quailwood Parkway in La Plata, for the reported motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.
911 callers reported the motorcyclist was unconscious and laying in the roadway.
Crews arrived on the scene to find a motorcycle and a van involved in a T-bone style collision with the operator of the motorcycle suffering a serious leg injury.
Aviation was requested to land nearby. Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 landed nearby and transported the patient to the MedStar Washington Hospital Center with serious injuries.
One patient was transported to the Fort Washington Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are investigating the collision.
