The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year, when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky and provides more daylight than any other day. Celebrate the solstice season with extended evening hours and after-hours tours at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum & Historic Park on June 19, 2026.
Visitors may tour exhibits in the Main Museum and join museum staff for tours of the historic 1836 lighthouse tower, Keeper’s Quarters, and Potomac River Maritime Exhibit.
The Museum Store will also be open, with proceeds supporting the Friends of St. Clement’s Island and Piney Point Lighthouse Museums.
Regular admission rates apply. The final tour of the lighthouse tower, Keeper’s Quarters, and Potomac River Maritime Exhibit will begin at 7:15 p.m. Summer Solstice extended hours will conclude at 8 p.m.
Admission is $7 for adults; $3.50 for children ages 6–18, seniors, and military personnel; and free for children ages 5 and under.

About the St. Mary’s County Museum Division
The St. Mary’s County Museum Division was established by the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County to collect, preserve, research, and interpret the historic sites and artifacts which illustrate the natural and cultural histories of St. Mary’s County and the Potomac River. These sites include St. Clement’s Island Museum, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, the Old Jail Museum, and the Drayden African American Schoolhouse. With this as its charter, the Museum Division serves as a resource, liaison, and community advocate for all St. Mary’s County public and private cultural assets.
