UPDATE: Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 landed nearby and transported a 38-year-old female to the MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and a 6-year-old male to the Children’s National Hospital.
The collision investigation and report was handled by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
The roadway was closed for over 40 minutes while First Responders operated on the scene.
Updates will be provided if they are released by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, at approximately 3:28 p.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the area of Point Lookout Road and Camp Cosoma Road in Leonardtown, for a serious motor vehicle collision with entrapment and one unconscious.
Crews arrived on the scene to find two vehicles involved in a rear-end style collision and confirmed one still in a vehicle but not trapped, with at least four patients for evaluation including one child.
Point Lookout Road is CLOSED at Camp Casoma Road/Chingville Road.
Aviation is being requested to land nearby for two patients.
Avoid the area and expect extended delays.
Use Piney Point Road, Medleys Neck Road, Blake Creek Road, Indian Bridge Road and St. Andrew’s Church Road as detours
