Jerrell Jeffrey Tyson, 35, of Laurel, is charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct after authorities said he threatened an officer during a disturbance call in Waldorf on May 30, 2026. Tyson’s listed address appears differently across filings, including Laurel and Hyattsville.

Officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were called at about 3:02 p.m. to Gallery Place in Waldorf for a reported assault in progress. When they arrived, officers said several adults were in a stairwell, arguing and yelling loudly enough to disturb people in nearby apartments. Those involved told officers it was a “family issue” but continued arguing.

Authorities said Tyson approached an officer “in a fast and aggressive manner,” with his fist balled and in what police described as a fighting stance. He allegedly told the officer, “I will f##k you up.” Tyson was then placed under arrest while other people involved in the dispute ran away, according to the account.

Police said Tyson continued yelling while being taken to a marked patrol vehicle, drawing the attention of multiple residents who came outside. Investigators also wrote that Tyson showed signs of being under the influence of an unknown substance, citing observations that included losing balance, swaying, dry mouth, slurred speech and drowsy eyes.

Tyson was taken to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. He later appeared before a judicial officer on May 31, 2026, and was released on personal recognizance, with conditions that he not engage in criminal activity and appear in court as required.
