Ayana Cheyenne Galloway, 19, of Waldorf, has been charged with theft less than $100 after an alleged shoplifting incident at the Target on Western Parkway in Waldorf on June 6, 2026.

According to allegations filed in District Court, officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were called to the store at about 3:52 p.m. for a report of shoplifting in progress. Officers reported reviewing security footage that allegedly showed Galloway selecting several items and concealing them in her waistband and under her jacket before passing all points of sale and attempting to leave the store.

Loss prevention staff attempted to stop her, but investigators alleged she pushed past loss prevention and fled in a vehicle waiting in the parking lot. Officers said they obtained the vehicle’s registration and went to an address connected to the vehicle, where they made contact with Galloway.

The stolen merchandise was recovered, and Galloway was taken to the Charles County Detention Center to appear before a District Court commissioner. The single charge filed in the case is misdemeanor theft less than $100, which carries a listed penalty of up to 90 days and/or a $500 fine.

At her initial appearance on June 6, 2026, Galloway was released on personal recognizance and ordered not to engage in criminal activity and to appear in court as directed. The initial appearance paperwork states the release followed a finding of no probable cause for the warrantless arrest.

A court date is scheduled for July 22, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Charles District Court. A public defender appearance was entered on June 9, 2026, along with motions requesting a speedy trial and discovery.
