Maryland’s sports wagering market generated $9,899,004 in contributions to the state during May 2026. Through the first 11 months of Fiscal Year 2026 (July 2025 through May 2026), sports wagering has returned a total of $124,695,286 to the state
Sports bettors in Maryland wagered $535,415,353 during May and won back $469,641,733 in prizes. Sportsbook operators held 12.3% of the handle.
Of the $9.9 million in state contributions from May, $7.4 million went to public education programs supported by the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund. Since the inception of the sports wagering program, $271,357,915 has gone to the Blueprint Fund. The first retail sportsbooks opened in December 2021, and the first mobile operators launched in November 2022.
Retail sports wagering operators contribute 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund. Mobile sports wagering operators contribute 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund and 5% to the state’s General Fund. In May, the combined retail and mobile contribution to the Blueprint Fund was $7,447,061, while an additional $2,451,943 in mobile proceeds went to the General Fund.
