Charles “Chuck” Bernard Shultz, age 87, of St. Mary’s County, passed away on June 11, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital with his family by his side.
A native of Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was born on May 25, 1939 to Bernard and Elinor (Evans) Shultz. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963. Following his military service, a visit to an Army comrade in St. Mary’s County reshaped his future. He settled in the area and, in 1965, married his beloved wife, Dolores, with whom he built a beautiful life and raised two daughters. They shared 56 devoted years together before her passing.
Chuck’s commitment to service continued throughout his career, working as a military police officer and completing 36 years as a civil servant. In his personal life, Chuck was an avid camper and traveler who loved exploring with family and friends. He was a generous host who found true joy in cooking and sharing meals with the people he held dear.
Chuck leaves behind his daughters, Kathy Shultz Edwards (Charli Edwards) and Susan Summers. His grandchildren Justin, Haley, and Joey and his great grandchildren Alex, Ben, Zoe, Tyler, Alaina, Faye, and Raiden. He joins in eternal rest his wife Dolores; his sisters Jean, Shirley, and Marion; and his parents.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 24 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P. A., 22955 Hollywood Road Leonardtown Maryland 20650. A memorial service, celebrated by Pastor Chris Whetlor, will begin at 7:00 pm.
