UPDATE 6/23/2026: On Sunday, June 21, 2026, at approximately 6:57 a.m., firefighters from Bay District, Hollywood, Solomons, Leonardtown, and Second District were dispatched to 23165 Mirfield Lane in Lexington Park, for the reported structure on fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find a two-story single family home with fire showing from the porch.
Over 50 firefighters from St. Mary’s and Calvert County responded and controlled the fire within 20 minutes. Firefighters operated on the scene for over 3 hours.
The estimated loss of structure and contents is valued at $120,000.00
The occupant of the home was housesitting at the time and woke to the dogs barking. The occupant found smoke in the residence, got the pets and herself out of the home safely and called 911.
A GoFundMe has been started to assist the two displaced adult, two children, two dogs and one pig.
Investigation determined the fire started on the front, with the causing remaining under investigation.

Crews arrived on the scene and found a two-story residence with fire showing.
The occupants were confirmed to be out of the residence, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters controlled the fire within 20 minutes and continued to operate on the scene as of 9:00 a.m.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is on the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross will assist the two adults and two children displaced by the fire. The homeowners were out of state on vacation, and a family member was dogsitting when the fire occurred.
