Lakesha Nicole Reed, 44, of Prince Frederick, has been charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault after the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported domestic assault on June 16, 2026, at an apartment on Alton Court in Prince Frederick. The incident was reported as a domestic violence-related case, and Reed was later released on personal recognizance pending further court proceedings.

According to the allegations, deputies were sent to the residence after receiving a report that a male victim had been cut with scissors and had lacerations. When deputies arrived, the man showed them a cut on his upper left bicep near his armpit and a slight cut on his right forearm. Deputies said they also observed a red mark on his shoulder, which the man said came from being struck with a piece of wood.

Reed told deputies she and the man had been arguing because she denied him sexual activity due to the way he was acting and the alcohol he had been drinking. She said that while she was in the living room, the man took her computer and threw it to the ground, breaking it. Reed also said he opened the front door and told her she needed to leave, then tried to force her out by pushing her. She told deputies she got away, grabbed a small pair of scissors, and attacked him with them.

The male victim gave deputies a different account, saying Reed was “acting crazy” because of mental health disorders. He told deputies Reed broke the computer by slamming it on the floor. He also said that while he was trying to get Reed to leave, she picked up a piece of broken door frame and hit him on the left shoulder, then grabbed scissors and cut him on the arm and forearm.

Deputies said Reed later reported that the man pushed her and dragged her across the carpet during the incident, causing pain in her elbow, though deputies did not see visible signs of injury. As deputies were leaving, the man became uncooperative and was offered a chance to provide a written statement. He responded, “get the f##k outta my house,” according to the report. Deputies also said he yelled at them from a balcony while Reed was being processed for arrest.

Reed was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault. The male victim was also charged with second-degree assault by application, according to the account.

At Reed’s initial appearance on June 16, 2026, she was found eligible for representation and appeared with a court-appointed attorney remotely. A prosecutor also participated by telecommunication. Reed requested a preliminary hearing, which was scheduled for July 16, 2026, in Calvert District Court.

As part of her release conditions, Reed was ordered not to engage in criminal activity, to appear in court when notified, not to intimidate the male victim or witness, and to complete an evaluation with Calvert Behavioral Health and follow all recommendations.
