Charles County K9 Mazli Retires After 5-Year Career

June 25, 2026

This week, Charles County Sheriff’s Office said congratulations and thank you to K9 Mazli as he officially retires from CCSO.

Mazli began his career on March 24, 2021, alongside his handler, Corporal Tyler Willis. Throughout his years of service, Mazli proved to be a loyal partner, skilled tracker, and dedicated protector of our community.

Mazli’s career was also defined by resilience. He overcame several serious medical challenges, including a life-threatening gastric torsion, an auto-immune disease, and multiple surgeries. Through it all, he continued doing what he loved most — working alongside his partner.

As Mazli transitions into retirement, Cpl. Willis shared a few fun facts about this hardworking K9. His favorite snack is anything he can get from Chick-fil-A, and his favorite pastime is swimming in the river. According to Corporal Willis, the thing Mazli will miss most is riding around together and, of course, tracking — one of his favorite jobs.

The good news is that retirement doesn’t mean goodbye. Mazli will remain with Corporal Willis, where he’ll spend his days relaxing on the couch, visiting new places, watching Nationals games together, and enjoying time at the beach.

While Mazli may not understand retirement, he has certainly earned it. We know his days ahead will be filled with plenty of treats, adventures, belly rubs, and well-deserved relaxation.

Thank you, Mazli and Corporal Willis, for your service to Charles County. Your contributions will not be forgotten.

Enjoy retirement, Mazli — and thank you for a job well done!
