On Thursday, June 25, 2026, at approximately 5:10 p.m., firefighters from Charles, St. Mary’s, and Calvert County were dispatched to the Beethoven Hardwoods Sawmill located at 8060 Beethoven Place in Charlotte Hall, for the reported commercial Building Fire.
Many departments in Charles County were operating on the scene of a house fire when this call was dispatched, bringing additional firefighters from Calvert and St. Mary’s County to the scene.
Arriving companies found a challenging fire involving a sawmill, multiple outbuildings, and a large wood chip pile. Due to the size of the incident and the significant water demands, a sustained water supply operation was established.
The fire was contained within 45 minutes. Firefighters operated on the scene for over 5 hours and utilized multiple ladder trucks for master stream operations as the incident was deemed defensive and exterior only.
No known injuries were reported.
