Jason Andrew Wills, 44, of Prince Frederick
Jason Andrew Wills, 44, of Prince Frederick, has been charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault after authorities say he attacked an adult female victim outside the Calvert District Courthouse in Prince Frederick early June 20, 2026. Wills was ordered held without bond following his initial appearance, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 20, 2026.
According to allegations filed in District Court, the Calvert County Control Center dispatched deputies around 1:16 a.m. for a reported assault at the courthouse on Duke Street in Prince Frederick. A courthouse security guard told authorities that a woman had been assaulted outside and that he brought her inside while the man involved remained outside. The guard reported that the woman was bleeding heavily from her nose and that he believed her arm was broken.
When deputies arrived, another deputy had already detained Wills outside the courthouse entrance. Authorities said Wills was advised of his rights at about 1:30 a.m. and agreed to answer questions. When asked what happened, Wills allegedly said, “she spit in my face, and then kinda like, don’t know.” Deputies noted fresh blood on the concrete behind where Wills had been sitting, as well as blood under his fingernails and on the palm of his hand. They reported that Wills had no visible injuries.
The filings say Wills and the adult female victim had been involved in a verbal argument earlier that night in a McDonald’s parking lot in Prince Frederick. The adult female victim told authorities Wills had been yelling at her and accusing her of being unfaithful. She also said the two were in an on-again, off-again relationship. Both were advised about protective orders during that earlier call, and the adult female victim said she planned to go to the courthouse to see a commissioner. Despite the argument, she allowed Wills back into her vehicle so they could go to the courthouse.
Authorities said neither person showed signs of physical injury during the earlier contact. While the two were waiting at the courthouse, Wills allegedly began yelling at the adult female victim, who was near the courthouse entrance on her phone. Deputies allege Wills approached her, knocked her off her feet into bushes, and began hitting her with his fists and kicking her. The security guard reported hearing the woman calling for help and said he saw Wills punching her and then kicking her in the face.
The adult female victim gave deputies a similar account, saying, “He was saying bad things about me, and then he just came up and pushed me in the bushes. Then started hitting me really hard. Then I was screaming help and was crawling across the sidewalk.” She also told deputies, “Then he just dropped back and kicked me as hard as he could.”
Deputies said the adult female victim had blood covering her face from the bridge of her nose down her neck and mouth, with blood also on her clothing. Authorities reported a cut on the bridge of her nose, a swollen wrist that appeared broken, and a welt near her temple. Emergency medical personnel told deputies the woman had a broken wrist and broken nose. She was taken to Calvert Health Medical Center and given information about seeking a protective order, along with domestic violence resources.
Wills was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center. While at the jail, authorities said Wills stated, “I fu##ed up,” and told deputies he lived with the person he assaulted. Investigators said photographs were taken of the woman’s injuries, the blood at the scene, and blood observed on Wills.
At his initial appearance, Wills waived an attorney for that hearing only and requested a preliminary hearing. A judicial officer ordered him held without bond, citing a reasonable likelihood that he posed a danger to the alleged victim, another person, or the community. He was also ordered not to intimidate, contact, or harass the adult female victim. A public defender later entered an appearance on his behalf.
