Darryl Eugene Morrow, 51, of La Plata
Darryl Eugene Morrow, 51, of La Plata, has been charged with firearms access by minors, illegal possession of ammunition, six counts of firearm possession after a disqualifying conviction, and knowingly altering or obliterating a firearm identification number after Maryland State Police said a search connected to a road rage investigation led to the discovery of three handguns and ammunition.
According to Maryland State Police, the investigation began in late May 2026 after a road rage incident involving a firearm in Prince George’s County. Police said Morrow was identified as the person involved after victims reported that he pointed a handgun at them following the incident. The victims were not named in the report.
Investigators said Morrow was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition because of prior convictions, which were listed as second-degree assault in Maryland, handgun on person in Maryland, and larceny of an automobile in Virginia.
Police obtained a search warrant for Morrow’s vehicle and apartment. On June 17, 2026, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Maryland State Police served the warrant and reported finding three firearms: an HK VP9 9mm handgun with a magazine in a Volvo, a Ruger P345D .45-caliber handgun with a magazine and ammunition in a nightstand in the master bedroom, and a Glock 43 9mm handgun with a magazine and ammunition in a green backpack in a bedroom closet. Police said the Ruger’s serial number had been obliterated.
After being advised of his rights, Morrow agreed to speak with investigators, according to police. The report states that Morrow admitted to the road rage incident and “brandishing of the firearm.” Police also wrote that Morrow said all three firearms belonged to him, that they were “purchased illegally off the streets of Washington D.C.,” and that one of them was found “on the side of the road.”
The filing also states that Morrow has a 13-year-old daughter and that, because the firearms were not properly secured, she had access to them. Her name was not included.
Morrow was ordered held without bond after his initial appearance on June 17, 2026. A bail review was held the following day, and he remained held without bond. As part of the release conditions noted in the initial appearance paperwork, Morrow was ordered not to own or possess any firearm, destructive device, or other dangerous weapon.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 15, 2026, at 1 p.m. in Charles County District Court.
