Marcus Antonio McCoy, 24, of Temple Hills
Marcus Antonio McCoy, 24, of Temple Hills, is facing charges of fourth-degree burglary of a dwelling and two counts of second-degree assault after authorities say he unlawfully entered a White Plains home and was later restrained by two adult male residents who found him inside.
The incident was reported on June 20, 2026, at about 7:35 p.m., when an officer with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Willetts Crossing Road in White Plains for a reported breaking and entering in progress. According to the allegations, two adult male residents had just returned from vacation when they found two young children on the front porch crying and saying they could not find their father, later identified as McCoy.
The documents do not identify the children by name or age, and they do not say how the children arrived at the home or what happened to them after officers responded.
Authorities say the two adult residents then entered the home and found an unknown man, later identified as McCoy, lying on a bed in the master bedroom. One of the men yelled for him to wake up, and McCoy allegedly mumbled something incoherent. The homeowner then went to a back door, retrieved an unloaded shotgun, and racked it in an effort to startle McCoy, according to the account.
McCoy became agitated and got into the face of the younger adult male victim, stating, “He won’t do anything, he’s pussy. If you’re going to do something then do it!”
The encounter moved into the living room, where the two adult victims were able to restrain McCoy until officers arrived, authorities said. During the struggle, McCoy allegedly kicked his feet toward the adult male homeowner and tried to push the younger adult male victim off of him. The younger victim held McCoy’s upper body while the homeowner held his feet, according to the account.
The homeowner was evaluated by medical staff at the scene for pain while breathing and was later taken by ambulance to Charles Regional Medical Center for complaints involving possible internal injuries to his rib cage, according to the filing.
McCoy had an initial appearance on June 21, 2026, and was released on personal recognizance. His release conditions require him to avoid criminal activity and appear in court when notified. A court date is scheduled for August 7, 2026, in Charles District Court.
