Whitney Anne Arnold, 39, of Mechanicsville
Whitney Anne Arnold, 39, of Mechanicsville, is facing misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in Lexington Park on July 1, 2026.
According to allegations filed in District Court for St. Mary’s County, a deputy with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said he observed a blue Cadillac DeVille traveling on Pegg Road near Midway Drive at about 9:52 p.m. with its rear running lights off. The deputy wrote that it was dark outside at the time and that the vehicle’s running lights were required to be on. A traffic stop was conducted in the area of Pegg Road and Pacific Drive.
When the deputy approached the vehicle, Arnold was seated in the front passenger seat. The deputy reported that he recognized her from a prior investigation and confirmed her identity through the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. A wanted check showed Arnold had three active warrants through the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
After the warrants were confirmed, the deputy conducted a search connected to the arrest. The deputy reported finding “one glass smoking device containing residue of suspect crack cocaine” in Arnold’s front right pants pocket. The substance was described in the charge paperwork as suspected crack cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
Arnold was taken to the St. Mary’s County Jail, where she was served with the three warrants and charged in connection with the items allegedly found during the search. The paraphernalia charge identifies the item as a glass smoking device used to inhale crack cocaine.
At her initial appearance on July 2, 2026, Arnold waived an attorney for that hearing only. A judicial officer found that releasing her on personal recognizance alone would not reasonably ensure her appearance, citing a prior record of failure to appear. She was released on a $2,500 unsecured personal bond, which was posted the same day.
As conditions of release, Arnold was ordered not to engage in criminal conduct, to appear in court when notified, and to abstain from alcohol or the abusive use or possession of narcotic drugs or other controlled dangerous substances without a prescription. A court date is scheduled for August 20, 2026, at St. Mary’s District Court in Leonardtown.
