Donavan Dontrelle Johnson, 24, of Leonardtown
Donavan Dontrelle Johnson, 24, of Leonardtown, faces misdemeanor charges of malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000, disorderly conduct, and trespassing on private property after two separate incidents at Leonardtown businesses in June and July 2026.
The most recent case stems from a July 3, 2026, incident at Domoishi on Washington Street in Leonardtown, where a deputy with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded for a report of property damage and disorderly conduct. According to the allegations, the deputy arrived at about 11:39 a.m. and found the restaurant’s front door “visibly broken off the hinges.” Johnson was inside the restaurant and was described as being in a “highly agitated state.”
The filing states that when the deputy tried to speak with Johnson and direct him outside, Johnson became upset and raised his voice, disturbing customers inside the restaurant. A customer witness told the deputy that Johnson had been in the restroom for about 20 minutes and “could be heard yelling inside,” loud enough for the entire business to hear. The witness said he asked Johnson to leave the restroom so others could use it, after which Johnson became upset, left the restroom and exited the business. The witness also reported hearing the front door break with a “loud audible bang” through the restaurant.
An employee witness gave a similar account, saying Johnson had been in the restroom for about 20 minutes and could be heard yelling throughout the establishment. The employee said Johnson left the bathroom in a “highly agitated and aggressive manner” before leaving the restaurant, then shoved the front door with enough force to break the hinges and cause the door to slam into a brick wall outside. The deputy wrote that camera footage confirmed the witnesses’ accounts.
Johnson told the deputy he had opened the door, but said he was not doing so aggressively or with the intent to damage property. He claimed the door was “defective,”. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and charged with malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000 and disorderly conduct.
At his initial appearance later that day, Johnson waived an attorney for that hearing only. A judicial officer ordered his release on a $500 unsecured personal bond, with conditions that he not engage in criminal conduct, appear in court when notified, and not enter or be found near Domoishi on Washington Street in Leonardtown.
Johnson also faces a separate misdemeanor trespassing charge from an alleged June 18, 2026, incident at Dunkin’ Donuts on Washington Street in Leonardtown. In that case, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office alleges Johnson entered the business after previously being served a notice not to trespass by Deputy Myles Chase-Johnson on October 22, 2025.
The deputy wrote that two employees said Johnson was inside the Dunkin’ Donuts, which was also confirmed by store security camera footage. The employees said they were familiar with him because of past issues at the business. Johnson left before the deputy arrived, and attempts to find him at the time were unsuccessful.
