Tyrone Marcello Hurt, 50, of Hollywood
Tyrone Marcello Hurt, 50, of Hollywood, is facing multiple firearm, ammunition, alcohol-related driving, and traffic charges after deputies said a July 4, 2026 crash in Prince Frederick led to the discovery of two loaded handguns, ammunition, and evidence of impaired driving. Hurt was ordered held without bond following an initial appearance on July 6, 2026, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 5, 2026.
According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at about 11:41 p.m. on July 4, 2026, to the area of Kinsey Drive and Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick for a reported property-damage crash. A deputy reported finding a black 2013 Dodge Durango off the roadway in a wooded area, facing northbound. Hurt was still seated in the driver’s seat, allegedly smoking a cigarette and going through a backpack in his lap.
The deputy wrote that Hurt was not in possession of his driver’s license and appeared “slightly out of it,” with extremely bloodshot and glassy eyes. The deputy also reported smelling a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. When asked about drinking, Hurt allegedly stated that “he had two simply lemonades throughout the evening” and had started drinking at about 3:30 p.m. on July 4, 2026.
After Hurt got out of the vehicle, the deputy reported that he struggled with balance and direction while walking back toward the shoulder of the roadway. Hurt agreed to field sobriety testing, during which the deputy noted several signs of impairment. Hurt refused a preliminary breath test at the scene and was arrested at about 12:10 a.m. on July 5, 2026. Later, an intoximeter test was administered at about 12:58 a.m., with a reported breath alcohol concentration of .163.
During a search of the Durango, deputies reported finding two loaded regulated handguns in the same backpack Hurt had been handling when the deputy first approached. One was described as a black Glock 36 .45-caliber handgun with a round in the chamber and additional rounds in the magazine. Investigators said that gun had been reported stolen out of Charles County in 2017, and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it was stolen early on July 5, 2026.
A second handgun was described as a black Hi-Point Firearms Model C-9 9mm handgun, also loaded with a round in the chamber and additional rounds in the magazine. Deputies also reported finding multiple boxes of ammunition in a bag in the back seat, including .45 auto, .380, and 9mm ammunition. Investigators said Hurt was prohibited from possessing firearms and did not have a Maryland handgun permit.
Hurt is charged with two counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm, two counts of having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of ammunition, two counts of having a handgun in a vehicle, and possession of a regulated firearm believed to be stolen. The stolen-firearm charge is listed as a felony, while the other firearm and ammunition charges are listed as misdemeanors.
He also received traffic and alcohol-related citations, including failure to control vehicle speed to avoid a collision, failure to display a license on demand, negligent driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to drive right of center, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol per se, driving while impaired by alcohol, and directing or permitting highway vehicle operation contrary to law.
