Anne C. Choporis, 70, known to her family and friends as “Christina”, passed away peacefully at her home in Waldorf, MD on June 27, 2026. She was born June 30, 1955 in Leonardtown, MD to her parents Demosthenes Paul Choporis and JoAnne Greenwell Choporis and was the fourth of six children.
Christina was a devout Catholic and attended Church at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD.
She attended grade school at Father Andrew White, S.J. School after which she attended St. Mary’s Academy to finish out her high school years. Both schools were located in Leonardtown, MD. Following high school graduation, she attended Spalding University, Louisville, Kentucky, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
After receiving her Nursing degree, she worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years. Through those years she worked at Southern Maryland Hospital Center as a Nursing Supervisor and lastly, at Calvert Health Medical Center in various departments where she eventually retired in 2019.
Christina loved flowers, gardening, traveling, antiques and thrifting. She loved collecting linens, embroidered hand towels, pillowcases and handkerchiefs especially if they had roses and flowers on them. One of her favorite pastimes was hiking in the woods admiring wildflowers. She was also an animal lover and had adopted a stray cat in her back yard which was named “Pumpkin”.
She had a kind and thoughtful heart, always paying attention to the little things that made people smile. Christina remembered what others loved and enjoyed and would often share her treasured thrift store finds with family and friends, knowing she had found something that was just right for them.
Christina was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother James Augustus Choporis, “Gus”. She is survived by her siblings Angeline Iwanicki (Arthur) of Waldorf, MD; Paul Choporis (Carol) of Valley Lee, MD; Mary Russell (Mike) of Leonardtown and George Choporis (Sherrie) of Riva, MD.
She loved being known as “Aunt Tina” to her many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her seven nieces and nephews: Mindy McConville (Dana), Meghan Thomas, Michael Russell (Paige), Elizabeth Iwanicki, Jessica Lewand, Joanna and Rayann Choporis. And 8 great nieces and nephews: Emily Travis (Ryan), Johnathan Watson, Brody and Brielle McConville, Poppy and James Russell, Leonidas and Athena Perez.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 10:00 to 11: 00 Am followed by a Mass of Christan Burial celebrated by Reverend Edward Hegnauer at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 21370 Newtowne Neck Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Interment will immediately follow the mass at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
