On Monday, June 8, 2026, Ruth F. Hawkins passed from this life at Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. Ruth was born on July 9, 1952, to the late Frances V. (Chase) Hawkins and the late Calvin H. Hawkins.
Ruth worked with art projects, was a skilled and creative crafter, and enjoyed being with family and friends. She was a decorated and awarded worker in the United States Post Office in Merrifield, Virginia. She was a very kind and warm aunt to her nephew and two nieces, as well as children in her cousins’ and other relatives’ family legacy.
She is survived by her sister Mary V. Hawkins, brother Lenord L. Hawkins, brother Calvin J. Hawkins (Denise), nephew Patrick D. Hawkins (Roberta), niece Kayla E. Hawkins, and niece Theresa F. Hawkins.
A viewing and Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. The viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Mass following at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Rory T. Conley. Interment will follow directly after Mass. There will be no repast.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Ruth be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617.
