David Curtis Williams, 76, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away at home on July 4, 2026.
Born on May 23, 1950, in Virginia, David was the son of the late Curtis Williams and Irma Williams. In his youth, he excelled at sports, especially baseball and football. He graduated Fairfax High School in 1968. As a freshman, he played Varsity Football. He played offense, defense and was even a field goal kicker. Forty years later, the school contacted him to invite him to a ceremony where he was given a plaque for his athletic achievements. The school retired his jersey #33, which is now on display in the school’s trophy showcase.
He earned a bachelor’s degree and dedicated his career to serving his country as a computer coder for the Department of Defense, where he was known for his intelligence, dedication, and strong work ethic.
David had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and was known for his unique affection for wildlife. Among his cherished companions was a pet raccoon that brought him much joy and reflected his kind and adventurous spirit.
He is survived by his sister, Sharon Ann Wood of Maryland, and his brother, Thomas Cameron Williams of Virginia. He also leaves behind extended family members and friends who will remember him for his quiet nature, gentle heart, and lifelong love of animals.
David will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
