On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Calvert 911 received several calls reporting a serious motor vehicle accident on the Thomas Johnson Bridge.
Firefighters and emergency medical services from Calvert and St. Mary’s County responded to the scene with first arriving units reporting a single vehicle against the bridge jersey wall, with the adult female inside the vehicle.
Crews extricated the woman within 15 minutes and requested a helicopter due to her injuries.
The patient was evaluated on scene and then transported to the St. Mary’s County Airport to meet Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7, where they transported the patient to an area trauma center.
