Charles County Department of Emergency Services shares with great sadness the news of the passing of our former colleague, Kevin Wells.
Kevin was a valued member of our team, serving the community as a Part-time Paramedic from 2014 – 2025 and made a lasting impact through his contributions, professionalism, and the relationships he built with so many of us.
Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family, friends, and all who knew and worked alongside him during this difficult time.

UPDATE 7/15/2026: The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a three-vehicle crash that occurred early morning on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Baltimore City.
Shortly before 7 a.m., MDTA Police Officers assigned to the Central Command Detachment responded to the northbound lanes of I-95 near Russell Street (Exit 52).
Responding officers located a blue Suzuki motorcycle, a silver Hyundai sedan, and a white Chevrolet SUV which had been involved in a crash.
The driver of the motorcycle, Kevin Wells, age 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the sedan and the SUV were not injured.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
Wells was a well known and respected volunteer with the Calvert Advanced Life Support, and also worked part-time for Charles County EMS. Wells is a life long First Responder and investigation determined that at the time of the crash, Wells was commuting home from a night shift at Maryland Express Care, where he worked full-time as a critical care transport paramedic for the University of Maryland Medical Center.

7/14/2026: It is with profound sadness that Calvert Advanced Life Support announces the untimely passing of PMIC Kevin Wells, who was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident in Baltimore City, where he resided, on the morning of Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Kevin faithfully served as a PMIC with Calvert Advanced Life Support for many years and was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief in 2014. Alongside his father, Kim Wells, Kevin dedicated countless hours to serving and protecting the residents of Calvert County. Their commitment to our community exemplified the true spirit of volunteerism.
Outside of his volunteer service, Kevin worked as a Critical Care Paramedic for the University of Maryland Medical Center ExpressCare Transport Team. He also had a passion for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore the world, creating lasting memories wherever he went.
Kevin’s warm smile, calm demeanor, professionalism, and unwavering dedication touched everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him. His presence will be deeply missed throughout our organization and by all who knew him.
