Gregory Alan Fuchs, 34, of Mechanicsville, faces two counts of possessing a controlled substance other than cannabis, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended for failing to attend a driver improvement program, driving on a suspended license and driving without the required license and authorization.

Fuchs was arrested on July 10, 2026, following an investigation by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office involving a 2017 Ford Explorer.

According to allegations filed in District Court, deputies located the Explorer near Point Lookout Road during the execution of a search-and-seizure warrant. Fuchs was identified as the vehicle’s operator and sole occupant.

An officer reported that as Fuchs got out of the vehicle, a lieutenant saw “his right hand raise towards the window sill in front of the windshield.” After Fuchs left the immediate area, investigators allegedly found a makeshift pipe where his hand had been observed.

Authorities described the item as a glass cylinder connected to a metal socket. Investigators said it contained residue believed to be crack cocaine and was of a type known to be used to inhale the drug.

Deputies later found Fuchs walking near Point Lookout Road and Colton Point Road, according to the allegations. He was taken into custody, and a search allegedly uncovered a second metal socket in his right front pocket. That item also contained residue suspected to be crack cocaine.

The two controlled-substance charges each allege possession of suspected crack cocaine residue. The two paraphernalia charges involve the glass cylinder and metal socket found near the vehicle and the additional metal socket allegedly recovered from Fuchs’ pocket.

A Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration check reportedly showed that Fuchs’ driver’s license was suspended. He was issued three traffic citations requiring a court appearance: driving while suspended for failing to attend a driver improvement program, driving on a suspended license and driving without the required license and authorization.

Fuchs was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center for processing. A District Court commissioner later released him on his own recognizance, meaning he was not required to post money for release.

His release conditions require him to appear in court, avoid criminal activity and abstain from alcohol and the unauthorized use or possession of controlled substances. Fuchs waived an attorney for the initial appearance, but the St. Mary’s County Public Defender’s Office entered an appearance on July 13, 2026.
