Shyann Aniqua Haley, 34, of Leonardtown, has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after Maryland State Police said she was found with suspected cocaine during an investigation in Lexington Park on June 20, 2026.
Trooper First Class Timothy Eckrich and Trooper Fortunato were dispatched at about 5:39 p.m. to Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for a reported assault. Police said they spoke with an adult female victim, who reported she had been outside the Dollar Tree on Shangri-La Drive when she began speaking with Haley. According to the filing, the victim said Haley grabbed her shoulders and “stated she was going to kill her.” The victim said she left the area and returned home, and that Haley followed her and banged on the common door of her residence, prompting her to call 911. The victim “denied any injuries from the assault.”
Before troopers arrived, police said Haley had left the area, and a description of her was broadcast over the radio. Trooper Herman later located Haley at the intersection of Great Mills Road and Shangri-La Drive. As Herman made contact with her, police said Haley began removing items from her person, including a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance.
Eckrich wrote that, based on his training and experience, he identified the substance as cocaine, a Schedule II narcotic. Police said Haley was read her Miranda rights and waived them. When asked about the reported assault, Haley said “she had no recollection of the incident” and “did not know who the victim was,” according to the filing. She also stated “she was too intoxicated to remember what happened.”

The trooper reported a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Haley, along with glassy eyes and slow, slurred speech. When asked about the white powder in the plastic bag, Haley allegedly stated “that it must be cocaine because that is the only drug she uses.” Police said Haley was arrested at 5:55 p.m. and taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending review by a District Court commissioner.
The arrest came a little more than two weeks after Haley was charged in a separate June 3, 2026, incident at Canopy Liquors on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. In that case, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said Haley refused to leave the property after being told to do so, yelled and screamed outside the business, blocked customers from entering and leaving, and was accused by a store employee of exposing herself in the parking lot. She was charged in that case with failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order, disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, and trespassing on private property, and was released on her own recognizance on June 4, 2026.
Haley was later released on personal recognizance. Her release conditions include appearing in court when notified, not engaging in criminal activity, and not using alcohol, drugs or controlled substances.
