Cody Dustin Combs, 28, of Leonardtown, is back in custody after a violation of probation warrant was issued in connection with a 2020 armed robbery case in St. Mary’s County.

The case was reopened on June 26, 2026, after a probation report was reviewed and an arrest warrant for violation of probation was issued the same day. Combs is being held without bond.

Combs was previously convicted of armed robbery stemming from a January 16, 2020, home invasion and assault in Hollywood. Investigators with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown after a 20-year-old male victim reported being assaulted inside his home on Morgan Road.

According to the earlier investigation, three masked individuals forced their way into the victim’s residence between 6 and 7 a.m. Two of the suspects assaulted the victim, striking him repeatedly, while Combs was identified as one of the individuals who brandished a knife. Another suspect, Bryon Michael Bishop, was accused of pointing a handgun at the victim during the incident.

The victim told investigators the group searched through his belongings before leaving with property that included medical marijuana, $200 in cash, a cell phone, a book bag and documents. The victim suffered a broken orbital bone on the right side of his face and a broken nose.

Combs entered an Alford plea in July 2020 and was found guilty of armed robbery. He was sentenced to 12 years in jail, with all but five years suspended, followed by five years of supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay $3,900 in restitution.

The recent probation filing led to the case being reopened and the violation of probation warrant being issued.

A bond setting entered on June 26, 2026, lists Combs as being held without bond.
