UPDATE 10/31/2024: Firefighters and emergency medical personnel found the male victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was flown to an area trauma center.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are investigating with “preliminary findings indicate this appears to be an isolated incident with no broader threat to public safety.” according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

10/30/2014: On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 8:20 p.m., police, firefighters, and emergency medical services responded to the 22000 block of Valley Estates Drive in Lexington Park for a reported gunshot victim.
Police arrived on the scene to find a 31-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
A helicopter was placed on standby at the request of EMS.
Firefighters and emergency medical personnel treated the victim on the scene and confirmed a helicopter was needed.
The victim was transported to the Maryland State Police Aviation hangar in Hollywood, and was flown by Trooper 7 to a regional trauma center with serious injuries.
Police are investigating the shooting and updates will be provided when become available.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has not provided an update on the last shooting, just one month ago on the same street. On September 22, 2024, police, fire, and emergency medical services responded to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.
Along with the other shootings under investigation, no further information, arrests or updates have been provided by the Sheriff’s Office into the murder of Jovan William Medley, age 18, which occurred Friday, September 13, 2024 in Lexington Park.
